The Indian team has taken a big step by wearing the camouflage military cap during the third ODI against Australia. They did this act as an act of respect to the CRPF jawans who lost their lives on 14th February in Pulwana terrorist attack. Cricketers also donated the match fee for the welfare of families of the martyrs. These caps were handed over to the team and to support staff by Mahender Singh Dhoni. It is estimated that the team will donate a total of around 1crore to the families for their welfare.
Pakistan has demanded the ICC to take action on the Indian team accusing the team of politicizing the game.
Pakistan Foreign Minister took this as an offense and said International Cricket Council (ICC) to do something about it.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi also quoted saying “The world says that the Indian cricket team wore military caps instead of their own. Did ICC not see this? we think this is the ICC’s responsibility to take notice of this without Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) bringing it up.”
Also, Information minister Fawad Chaudhry echoed Qureshi’s sentiments. He tweeted in the evening attaching the picture of Indian cricketers wearing the cap. He wrote in the tweet “It’s just not cricket, I hope ICC take action for politicizing gentleman’s game.. if Indian Cricket team|| not to be stopped Pak Cricket team should wear black bands to remind The World about Indian atrocities in Kashmir. I urge #PCB to lodge a formal protest.”
Well, Indian sports has a glorious history of standing against jingoism and militarism. Going back in time, In 1936 Berlin Olympics, India and few other teams refused to do “Heil Hitler‘ salute. Even at that time, the Indian team held firmly for the nation.
While Pakistan is so concerned of Indian team wearing military caps. We totally appreciate our Indian Team for such a brave step. Its time we all stand for the nation together. And help each other by doing smalls bits of us. And to all those people who are questioning as to why we did this? People of Pakistan really need to think over some major issues with their country instead of complaining about caps worn by the Indian team. A lot of issues actually!!
